Types of Visa Before applying for a visa to Lithuania, you should decide the visa type under which you wish to lodge your application. Schengen visa Short-stay visa (C) – a visa valid for transit through or an intended stay in the territory of the Schengen Member States of a duration of no more than 90 days in any 180-day period. Airport transit visa (A) - a visa valid for transit through the international transit areas of one or more airports of the Schengen Member States. National visa (D) – allows to enter the Republic of Lithuania and stay in it for a period longer than 90 days but shorter than a year. After the changes in the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners came into effect on 1 July 2023, Lithuanian consular services abroad cease to process applications for issuance of national visas. Applications for national visas hereafter by the foreigners, who are not in Lithuania, can be submitted only through the external service provider chosen by the Migration Department under the Ministry of Interior.
